Published 1731 under the name John Noon by Thomas Bayes. The full title "Divine Benevolence: Or An Attempt to prove that the Principal End of the Divine Providence and Government is the Happiness of his creatures being an answer to a Pamphlet, entitled, Divine Rectitude..."
Thomas Bayes (who developed the Bayes Theorem of probability) was first a studied theologian who discusses that God's design in making creation is the sharing of His happiness with every "sensible being." Written in the English of the 1700's, but well worth the struggle to read. OCR'd version replaces old English type character resembling "f" with modern "s" making it much easier to read. Original page numbers in parenthesis for easy comparison to original. I hope you enjoy reading this discussion of nay-sayer John Balguy whose circular reasoning and unkind attitude becomes apparent from quotes of his work - "Divine Rectitude."
